Christmas is only weeks away and there is a spark in the air! The local Chamber have a Christmas lights competition on at the moment and it looks like everyone in town is vying to enter!
The Carols by Candlelight will be held at the Pemberton Mill Hall on Sunday 17th with a sausage sizzle starting at 6pm. We have a community of Vanuatu visitors staying for the summer to help with the local strawberry harvest - and they are invited to join us in some traditional songs as well as teach some new ones to our community and visitors to the town.
Local tours operate all school holidays; with some closures over Christmas Day and Boxing day - We would definitely encourage people creating their own holiday planner before they arrive so they can fill the days where places are closed with other activities. Some suggestions:
A Progressive Picnic day:
Pack the bathers, towels, picnic rug or tablecloth as well as the important things (ie wine glasses, chopping board, knife, cutlery, plates) along with your esky and this list. You can bring or buy most things from the IGA - but this may give you a fun and varied activity for the day!
Wineries, breweries and cideries an be visited (when open) on the day or so before so you can pick out a drop of your favourite tibble.
Roadside stalls are usually open 7 days however you may like to do a drive by - places like the strawberry farm will be closed for Christmas Day.
Pack the fishing gear and the picnic and head down to Windy Harbour - or if salt and sun is not your thing try out the beach at Big Brook Dam. A great way to spend the day!
These are just a start - but hopefully enough to give you a chance to holiday here in our Southern Forest region!
