Dear Backpacker,

Are you considering living and working in the Pemberton township and region for a few months?

Yes?

Welcome to our wonderful town!

I hope you find the information below valuable.

As a town, we have a lot of facilities you may find useful;

Our Pemberton Sportsclub: great bar open 7 days and delicious restaurant open Wednesday – Friday.

Please note it is a member based facility however reduced Membership is available for up to 3 months for $15 if you can prove you are a bona-fida traveller (aka passport/ drivers license with home address). Located at the bottom of town (look for the footy oval).

The club has pool and snooker tables, dart boards and a jukebox not to mention you are also able to join other clubs (eg Football, Soccer, Bowls etc). There is also a fully set up Gym (membership is $40 per month) and Squash courts ($10 per hour /equipment hire $5) for you to enjoy with your friends!

If staying in touch with home and getting your resume in order is important then the Pemberton Community Resource Centre is a great place to start – they are also the ‘employment hub’ of town so can assist with training courses and possible places to look for work or accommodation. They are located next to the Pemberton Visitors Centre in town.

Other fun things to do on your day off include all the pubs, wineries, restaurants, galleries, tours and activities included on our map.

This region is rich in timber history – so our fire lookout towers would have to be one of the most iconic ‘crazy’ experiences you may like to try in this area. Make sure you #firetower #gloucestertree #visitpemberton and #pembertonwa when you upload your images to show your family back home!

Our National Parks are amazing – and as a ‘local’ the Department of Parks and Wildlife have a ‘Local’ Annual Park pass you can pick up for your car for $22 (not $12 per day) – you do need to show proof that you are living in the region (aka Payslip with your local address) to the office located on the way to the Gloucester Tree. This gives you access to all our local parks (including Windy Harbour – our closest 2WD accessible beach). (Note Park entry is free if you are walking!).

During summer our most popular places would be Big Brook Dam and the Pemberton Pool (both free to visit – day use only)

The Pemberton Mountain Bike Park is a great place to visit – located in Pemberton Forest Park (the hill overlooking the town) it has entry level rides (aka green level) through to Blue and Black levels skills trails looping up the hill. We offer Mountain Bike hire at our premises and do require you to book a bike in advance (SMS +61 427 133 335).

For Backpackers who have work in the region for 6 weeks or more – you are eligible to receive a discount rate on our tours and bike hire (tour pricing is valid for last minute bookings for additional seats).

We have been operating tours since 1999 in the Pemberton area and have seen many people enjoy our experiences into our National Parks; we are Advanced Ecotourism Certified on most of our tours so do give you an insight into our forests, tree species, other flora and fauna. The Yeagarup Dunes are an amazing inland dune system located around 20km from Pemberton Town – this is where our most popular tour goes through – so make sure you book in advance next time you have a day off and want to explore!

I hope this information assists in you enjoying your time here in Pemberton – check us out online (Tripadvisor / Instagram / Facebook @pembertondiscoverytours @pemdisc @wawilderness #beachandforestecoadventure).

Kind Regards
