A- C Information Page

Pemberton is home to a wide variety of native animals. The Conservation and Land Management (CALM) feral animal reduction program has been very successful here in reducing the number of feral animals with their 1080 program. 1080 is a poison which occurs naturally in a plant only found in the south western part of Western Australia. Because it has been a part of local animals diets for many years, it only harms introduced animals. The poison was introduced in the late 1800's when cattle were sickening when eating this plant.
Animals often seen on the night watching tours include:
Quenda (this looks like a small wombat)
Woylie (small marsupial mouse)
Euro Kangaroos
Western Grey Kangaroo
Night birds (mopoke, owl etc)
More animals and pictures to come...
