Pemberton is centrally located in our south west and makes an ideal destination to radiate from on day trips.

Here are some suggestions for your holiday, as well as some itineraries you may wish to take note off to include in your bags before you arrive. Augusta

Augusta is a growing town south of Margaret River. It has a beauty of its own and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is a must see.

This is where the Indian Ocean meets the Great Southern Ocean so it is an enthralling spot.

FACTS

Augusta is 127km or One and a half hours West of Pemberton. The roads to take are Vasse Hwy - Left onto Stewart Rd - Left onto Brockman Hwy and Left onto Bussell Hwy

Busselton

Busselton is a major centre of the South West and is one and a half hours north of Pemberton.

The Busselton Jetty is a great new icon with the underwater observatory now open. Should you wish to visit you are best to make a booking to avoid disappointment.

FACTS

Busselton is located 150km, or 1.5hrs north of Pemberton via Nannup, making it a great day trip.

Busselton is a mini city with most facilities available, including an airport.

Manjimup

Manjimup is the service centre of the Southern Forest area with major supermarkets in the town with a Population around 8000 people.

Boardwalk at Timber ParkManjimup Timber and Heritage Park is a unique heritage park showcasing the Southern Forests Timber Heritage. It is accessible from its entrance at the old visitors centre off Rose St. Make sure you devote several hours for this visit.

Manjimup Timber ParkThe Timber & Heritage Park is a member of the Working Life Heritage Trail. This is a tourist drive trail that uses this common brand logo to showcase key heritage, cultural and modern industry sites throughout the South West thus encouraging visitors to experience the history and cultures of the South West in a new and more in-depth way.

Manjimup is 27km (20 - 25min) North of Pemberton via Vasse Hwy and South West Hwy

Manjimup Timber Park costs (

Manjimup has a COLES, Woolworths, Country Target and a range of specialty shops as well as National Australia, Bank West and Westpac Challenge Banks.

Margaret River

Margaret River is famous for its surf beaches. Its high lights include the caves, the many wineries and galleries.

Caves Road is a glorious scenic drive into Margaret River and passes by the caves which have organised tours.

Margaret River and Augusta make a good day trip from Pemberton.

Quinninup

Quinninup is located just under 30km from Pemberton. It is a small timber community with lovely forest walks and a friendly local pub.

Quinninup is a great place to drive to and stop for a while to relax.

Nannup

Nannup is a quaint town north of Pemberton. It is unique for its tulip and daffodil displays in the springtime and has a number of craft shops, galleries and restaurants for the visitor to enjoy.

The town sits on the banks of the Blackwood River and is picture perfect. The Nannup Folk Festival is an annual event held during Easter School Holidays.

FACTS

Nannup is 80km north of Pemberton. It will take you approximately 50 min to drive there. You will pass a couple of wineries on the way as well as Beedelup National Park. There are no service stations enroute.

Northcliffe

 

Northcliffe is becoming well known for its Karri Cup - an annual Mountain biking event held in February/March. Other times of the year it is a small close knit community. You may like to pop into the visitor’s centre located next to the museum. The Northcliffe Forest Park is near by and has numerous walks and  biking trails.

Northcliffe is located 27km South of Pemberton and is enroute to Windy Harbour and Salmon Beach.

Walpole

Walpole is a town built on the Walpole Inlet on West Australia’s Southern Coast. It features large areas of forested national parks, rivers and estuary systems.

A great daytrip from Pemberton is to visit the Tree Top Walk. Whilst there you may choose to venture out on Gary Muir's WOW Wilderness cruise which operates daily all year round departing at 10am. (So you will need to ensure your leave Pemberton by at least 8.30am.)

FACTS...

Walpole is 127km South of Pemberton (1hr and 15 minutes travelling) It is 9km longer to go through Northcliffe however it is a more scenic drive.

The Tree Top Walk is 20km the other side of Walpole

Your National Parks pass will not get you into the Tree Top Walk - there are entry fees.

The Tree Top Walk usually closes at 4.15pm - except during school holidays when it closes at 5.15pm.

Windy Harbour

This is the "last frontier" , as it is still a shack town - which is very windy. Otherwise known as Pt D'Entrecasteaux, Windy Harbour contains a sheltered swimming beach as well as a scenic drive to the lighthouse. This is a solar lighthouse unlike the one in Augusta.

The scenic walk has a number of "balconies" over hanging the limestone cliffs. Simply awesome! Whales, dolphins and seals are often sited from these viewing platforms. Salmon Beach is a beautiful spot for that bit of beach fishing and accessible by 2WD.

On the way to "Windy" you will pass through Northcliffe and Mt Chudalup where there is a big granite outcrop which has a great view - the walk will take you around 1 hour.

Also, if you look to the right as you are driving towards Windy you will see the Meerup Dunes in the distance.

Windy Harbour is 60km South of Pemberton - usually will take you 50min.
