Children Activities

We have some great activities, to make your holiday that much more fun (and keep the kids busy!). So download the Quiz as well as the colouring sheets.

Tours

There are many tours suitable for children and they will enjoy. Family prices are usually available, ask when you book. A paying adult must accompany all children.

  • Canoeing Tours (9776 1559) – Suitable for children ages 3 and up.
  • Beach & Forest off-road Adventure (9776 0484) – Suitable for all ages - booster seats available (however it is a 4WD tour)
  • Steam Train Tours (9776 1322) – Suitable for all ages
  • Tram Tours (9776 1322) – Suitable for all ages
  • Fishing Tours (9776 0484/9776 0264) – All Children must have adult supervision however children are welcome.
  • Marron Tours (9776 0099) – Suitable for all ages.

 

Day Care

There is a day care centre available in Pemberton its name is Little Taddies, which can be contacted on 08 9776 1797. They can take children from 2 months old onward however you must book in advance to ensure there are vacancies.

Baby Sitting

If you require a babysitter for the evening, please contact Robert on 9776 1362 or Susanne on 9776 1003, they both work at the day care centre and are very qualified to look after your children.

For all ages...

Karri Valley Resort has an activities program for kids available for all visitors to the area regardless of whether they are staying at the resort. They can be contacted by e-mail or phone on 08 9776 2020.

There is animal feeding available at the Lavender and Berry farm where you can buy a bag to feed the Llamas or chooks and ducks. They have ponies there however you can't feed them any more as they are now too fat! You can also pick berries (in season!) and try the yummy lavender or berry icecream.

Golf or Miniput is available for children and adults alike, Karri Valley Hideaway Golf Course is a 9 hole course located off Hopgarden Rd and has equipment available to use. They can be contacted on 9776 2003. Mini putt is available at Karri Valley, their activities department handles bookings and can be reached on 9776 2020.

CALM often have an activities program running during school holidays. The can be contacted on 08 9776 1207.

 

Playgrounds...

There are two winery/restaurants who have great play facilities enabling you to relax and enjoy the wine and food.

Phillips Estate and Hidden River Estate both have play equipment available. Most of the other wineries have grassed areas where children are welcome to run around however not the swings and slides that make it much easier to relax.

There is a playground at the Visitors Centre however this is more suitable for older children. They have recently been allocated a grant for a new children's playground which will hopefully be in place by mid 2004.

The Bunning's Playground is situated on Kelly St, which is a couple of houses down from where Railway Rd and Brockman Hwy cross. This is a fully enclosed playground which is made of timber.

CALM have a playground hidden behind their offices in Pemberton. It is accessible via Raspy Road.

Northcliffe has a great playground next to the Visitors Centre suitable for most ages of children.

Windy Harbour has a new and quite large playground next to the caravan park suitable for all ages.

 

For the older ones...

The Pemberton Sports Club has a unsupervised Youth room available which contains pool tables, pinball machine, a TV with Foxtel and videos. The cost is free however the pinball games do cost $1.

The Pembee Fish Cafe has pinball and Air Hockey available however this is only for their clients - a good way to keep the kids amused over a quick, yummy and cheap dinner.

The Diamond Tree has the Jim Fox’s Walk Trail - interactive children's walk trail next to the tree area, which is an obstacle course for kids.

 Big Brook offers great swimming and picnic facilities for families (however does not have a lifeguard).

Please note some accommodation places have internet,pools and other children activities.

 

Computing

The Pemberton Telecentre is open 6 days a week and has a large selection of computer games available as well as Internet access and SEGA. They also have 8 online computers for public and community use. The cost for internet is from $6.00 per hour ($2.50 for 15 min)

A photo copier, laminator and Digital Camera ports/printing is also available.

The Telecentre is open 6 days a week and located next to the Visitors Centre in the centre of town.

Monday 9am - 6pm

Tuesday 10am - 6.30pm

Wednesday 10am - 8pm

Thursday 12.30pm - 6.30pm

Friday 9am - 6pm

Saturday 2pm-6pm

 

Picnicking

There are many lovely places to have a picnic, from free gas BBQ's to just a lovely setting.

Here are some options for in town...

Historic Precinct Park - and Old Steam Train playground. There are two picnic tables here and a couple of bench seats.

Pemberton Visitors Centre - Two picnic tables opposite Visitors Centre

Pemberton RSL Park - Lovely Gardens & Tables in the War Memorials Park

Pemberton Swimming Pool - There a numerous picnic facilities here however no toilets or BBQs at the moment.

Gloucester Tree (3km out of town) - (National Park Pass required) - Free gas BBQ in undercover picnic area (2 to 3 tables), toilets and running water.

Big Brook Dam (6km out of town) - Free gas BBQ in undercover picnic area (2 to 3 tables), toilets and running water. Fantastic swimming facilities at 'The Beach' area, where a shallow sandy beach has been man made. Also a 4km sealed circuit around the perimeter.

 The Cascades (6km out of town) - (National Park Pass Required) Wood BBQ's, Picnic tables and toilets. Lovely walks, with a board walk over the Cascades and often the site for seeing the Lamprey Eels mating in the water!

The Bicentennial Tree (17km out of town) - (National Park Pass required) Free gas BBQ in undercover picnic area (2 to 3 tables), toilets and running water. Walk trails and of course the tallest climbing tree in the world - at 75m - worth a look!

Beedelup Falls (17km out of town) - (National Park Pass Required) Many Picnic tables in nooks around the car park and on the walk trail, toilets and running water. Walk trails, suspension bridge, with a board walk over the actual falls themselves. Falling over the edge of the Darling Scarp they cascade over 100m in distance.

Yeagarup Lake - (30km out of town) - (National Park Pass required) Picnic table and wood fired BBQ's - please take your rubbish home with you.
